Leadership Development
The job changes as responsibility grows. You may have built a business by being very good at doing things yourself. Then the business grows and your job becomes increasingly about getting things done through other people.
You may be building a startup where the organisation changes every few months, working alone and discovering that managing yourself is already a substantial management job, or preparing for your first substantial management position.
Leadership Development is one-to-one and built around your real work. The initial discussion establishes what needs to be different when we finish. The programme then draws from a common leadership core and adjusts the emphasis to your role and situation.
Areas we may work on
- Goals and priorities
- Use of time and attention
- Decision-making
- Delegation
- Communication and feedback
- Accountability and follow-up
- Managing through other people
- Personal leadership and self-governance
A typical programme runs for six months, usually with two substantial conversations each month. Between sessions, you apply things in actual work. The next discussion starts from what happened, rather than from where a textbook says you should be.
Relevant Consulting DNA Knowledge Bundles can become part of the programme, leaving session time for judgement and application.
When mentoring or consulting fits better
Sometimes the issue is something you want an experienced person to think through with you. That is what Business Mentoring is for. Sometimes Leadership Development uncovers a business problem requiring analysis or consulting work. That becomes a separate assignment if you want it.
You do not have to commit to a six-month programme. If the Knowledge Base is enough, start there. If you want somebody experienced to work through the issue with you, get in touch.
